Seaforth comedy night is on at the Seaforth Room, Balgowlah RSL, on 24 October. Comedy for a Cause is presenting the show, and it starts at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7pm.
It is a simple format with a strong local pull. Northern Beaches Community Cancer Charity is behind the event. The funds will go to Little Lifts and the Wig Library.
The lineup brings four different comic voices to the same stage. Cam Knight, David Smiedt, Bonnie Tangey and Brett Nichols are all booked in. That gives the night a broad mix of experience and style.
Seaforth comedy night brings seasoned performers
Knight has spent 16 years in comedy and acting. He has also worked as a presenter. His credits include regular appearances on the Today show, co-hosting Studio 10 and weekly radio work on Triple M in Sydney.
Smiedt comes with his own strong track record. He has been performing for more than 12 years in Australia and overseas. He also writes for magazines, appears on television and has written six humorous books.
Tangey adds a sharp and unusual edge to the bill. She is a comedian and scientist. Her credits include Raw Comedy runner-up in 2017, along with appearances on Comedy Up Late and Tonightly With Tom Ballard. Her solo show Yuck sold out at the Sydney Comedy Festival in 2021.
Nichols rounds out the night with long experience on the circuit. He won Green Faces in 2003. Since then, he has become a regular headline act on the Sydney and national comedy scenes. He has also appeared on The Footy Show, Stand Up Australia and Last Comic Standing.
Charity comedy with a local address
The Seaforth comedy night also has a clear community purpose. It is an 18-plus show, and the listing notes it may contain low-level coarse language. Tickets are $45 for adults and $40 for concession holders.
Seats are not allocated, so early arrival is sensible. That usually suits a show like this anyway. People can settle in, order a drink and wait for the room to fill.
For Seaforth readers, this one has the right ingredients. It stays close to home, supports a local cause and offers a strong comedy bill. In suburb news, that is the sort of night that tends to travel well by word of mouth.
