Strangers on a B-Line bus became first responders in Seaforth when a 16-year-old girl fell from the moving vehicle.
Emergency services were called to Manly Road, near the Spit Bridge and just past Battle Boulevard, at about 5:45pm on Monday, 28 September. By then, several passengers were already at the girl’s side. They rang Triple Zero (000) and flagged down emergency vehicles as they arrived.
One passenger on the top deck said people gasped as the bus rounded a bend. A glance backwards showed someone lying on the road.

The bus was a Mona Vale-bound B1 service heading north, reportedly at about 50km/h. The girl was standing near the rear door when it appears to have given way. Why it did so is not yet known.
Paramedics found her conscious and sitting up. She had reportedly landed on her right side and was treated for bruising to the head, plus pain in her hip and lower back. Because she was stable, a rescue helicopter that had been sent was called off, and she went by road to Royal North Shore Hospital just after 6.15pm.
A hospital spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that she remained in a stable condition. Transport for NSW described her injuries as minor.
Transport for NSW said the bus has been withdrawn from service while the operator, Keolis Northern Beaches, and the department investigate. The incident has also been reported to the Office of Transport Safety Investigations.
Keolis said a full investigation would take place. It added that its first thoughts were with the passenger, and wished her well in her recovery.
The Rail, Tram and Bus Union is looking into reports from drivers that bus doors have opened unexpectedly while vehicles were moving. Its Tram and Bus Division Secretary, Peter Grech, said drivers had told the union this may not be the first time it has happened. He said the union wants Keolis to explain how the incident occurred and whether similar door faults have been reported before. He also called for clear information on how the buses are maintained.
The cause has not been confirmed, and the investigations are continuing. Reports say maintenance records are likely to be examined. For updates, residents can check Transport for NSW and local news outlets.
